December Writing Update: Fiction and Podcasts

December Writing Update Header

It’s the final month of 2018! Can you believe it!

I hope everyone is looking forward to some holiday time over Christmas — I’m having a short vacation of ten days while the company I work for closes, mwahahaha!

I’m in Johannesburg this year for Christmas though, which suits me as the city gets really quiet (for the city) over the holidays. It’s bliss.

It’s almost time for the holidays!

As such, I am hoping to do some proper writing (well, fiction writing) and reading during that week and staying off of social media as much as possible, because, wow, can I get sucked into Twitter and Instagram if I’m not being careful.(That also means that the blog will be quiet between Christmas and New Year.)

Porselein and The Knowledge Stones

That said, I am still very busy this month with both Porselein and The Ruon Chronicles. I’m afraid The Knowledge Stones will not be finished by 15 December, but I’d rather have it properly finished than publish something that hasn’t been edited!

You can find out more about Porselein and its magic system on my Patreon page. I’m mostly faffing about with the story line at the moment and finding the best way to cut between scenes and characters and trying not to make it into a series.

Other fiction

I’m also currently busy outlining some shorter fiction and need to start outlining the radio drama that I want to write next year. Most of these seem to be paranormal stories more than straight forward fantasy, which makes me think that I have listened to too many paranormal podcasts in the past few weeks!

This fiction, however, will only be available in the new year, though, as they’re on my list for The Final Week of Writing.

(The podcasts include catching up on Astonishing Legends, Lore, and The Folklore Podcast.)

Here are some great writing podcast episodes to catch before the end of the year

  1. Sounds like you’re going to have a busy month ahead of you, though relaxing at the same time. You have a solid plan though and that’s good. 🙂
Also, thanks for the podcasts. I definitely need to start listening to those more.
