We’ve already rushed past the halfway mark of April, which means that there are now about two weeks of writing time left before Camp NaNoWriMo ends. That said, I am nowhere near where I should be regarding word count to make my 25K word goal for the month. At the moment I have about 7K words (you do the math), which means that I’ll need a few days of epic writing if I want to finish the Camp with my word goal completed. As I have done 10K in a day in the past, I know that it is doable, I just need to block out a day and do it. Hopefully, this will be this Saturday.
One reason for writing at such a slow pace (slow for me, at least) is that I have been working on characters and research quite a bit. And there’s this one part in part three of Box of Secrets that I have been dreading to write because it is a very difficult scene to write. And a scene I definitely do not want to mess up. Feedback has been positive so far, but I’ll definitely tweak it a bit more before posting the part on Patreon. And it took some time to figure out the magic system’s four branches (explained in this post).
The Box of Secrets is my current Patreon fiction and takes place in Airtha-Eyrassa, the world in which The Ruon Chronicles will take place. Box of Secrets is at the moment* only available to read by my Patrons, but there are other stories set in Airtha-Eyrassa that you can read. Just follow this link for the reading order.
* Yes, you read correctly, I said at the moment. But you’ll have to watch this space to see what my plans for Box of Secrets are, as I’m still working on a timeline.
My writing plan for the rest of the month is as follows:
** Yay vacation weekend!
Hopefully next week Monday and Tuesday. I did not write any flash fiction over Easter weekend, but I am planning on entering both Microcosms and Cracked Flash this weekend.
